Victoria warns Renato not to bother her or her daughter and that if he does, she’ll tell Don G that Alex isn’t really a Montero. Amalia tells Carolina that when Carolina saw Isabela and Alex kissing, it was a trick by Isabela to break her and Alex up. Isabela tells her sister Christa what happened with Alex and Carolina and that she told Carolina that Alex bet Christa that he could sleep with Carolina in less than a week. Gonzalo tells Alex that he admires him for what he’s doing and wishes he’d been strong enough to stand up to his father a long time ago.
Diego tells his aunt Flora that he’s going to the exposition and that Martin seems to be different from the rest of the Monteros and he hopes to find out some things about Victoria. Victoria flashes her knife at Renato and reminds him that she could kill him. He tells her he has no plans to kill her right now. Victoria tells him she’s not impressed by him. He tells her that he’ll win because he’s not accustomed to losing and she tells him she’ll win this war.
Alex tells Gerardo that he’s sorry about his situation but that there’s nothing he can do to help him. Gerardo asks if the situation between him and Don G is definite and Alex assures him that it is but that Don G will give him a few days before making his decision. Gerardo hopes for a miracle because he doesn’t want to take Alex’s place as Don G’s heir. Alex tells Gerardo that he’ll take Carolina to the exposition with him and that finally his family will have the chance to get to know her. Victoria thanks Edelmiro for saving her life. Carolina is shocked when she overhears and asks her who tried top kill her.
Don G assures Renato that Alex will follow his orders and marry Isabela and they shake hands. Renato turns down his offer of a room at the ranch and tells Don G that he’ll stay at a friend’s home in the city and that he’ll take Isabela with him because it’s been so long since he’s seen her. Don G watches Renato leave and wonders why he’s so suspicious of Renato. Gonzalo arrives and asks why they’re all going to Martin’s exposition and Don G tells him that he wants the Montero family to present a united front. Gonzlao finds his response laughable and tells Don G that Alex will go with Carolina, “The girl that he loves.”
Patricio delivers a letter to his father as Martin and Florencia get ready. Don G calls Martin and orders him not to let Alex and Carolina into his exposition. Martin refuses and Don G tells him if he doesn’t that he won’t go to Martin’s exposition. Martin continues to refuse and ends the conversation. Martin tells Florencia what her father wanted him to do. Victoria tells Carolina a lie and that no one tried to kill her. Edilmiro tells Victoria that Maria needs to speak with her. Alex arrives and invites Carolina to Martin’s art gallery and asks her what’s wrong with her.
Victoria accuses Alex of playing with Carolina’s feelings and tells him he‘s just like his father. Carolina calls him a hypocrite. Alex says he doesn’t understand, then Carolina slaps him hard. “Don’t play innocent, Alejandro! I never want to see you again!” Victoria kicks him out of the cabin. Isabela tells Gladys what she’s done and Gladys says that although Carolina might be angry at first, she’ll calm down and have the time to think things through and that if she doesn’t discover what Isabela’s done, her mother Victoria will because Victoria’s already proven that she’s not an idiot. Gladys hopes that Renato can somehow get Victoria out of their way while Victoria comforts Carolina. Flora warns Diego about Lucrecia.
Diego tells German that he’s going to the exposition with Lucrecia and that he has a lot of pity for her. German tells him to be careful and not to mistake pity for love. Diego assures him that he knows his feelings well and that he can’t love anyone but Victoria. German tells him that Lucrecia is very dangerous.
Flora thinks it’s the first time Diego and Victoria will go out on a date and Diego tells her that he’s not going to the exposition with Victoria and she’s shocked to learn her nephew is going with Lucrecia Montero.
Macario admits to Don G that he likes Carolina, but he doesn’t want any problems with Alex. Don G asks Macario to try to seduce Carolina and take her away from Alex. He tells Macario that he’s serious and plans on offering Carolina money to leave Alex. Macario agrees to help Don G by seducing Carolina. Lucrecia walks in and reminds Don G of Martin’s exposition at the art gallery. Macario excuses himself and Don G yells at Lucrecia for interrupting his conversation. He tells her to leave and she tells him that she’s going to the exposition with Diego Ibarra.
Don G thinks Lucrecia is just trying to provoke him and Lucrecia tells him to believe whatever he wants and that she’s going to the exposition with Diego. She leaves the room and he calls after her. Alone, he asks out loud, “What’s going on in my house? Why has everyone gone crazy?” He continues to think that she’s just provoking a him and says, “Poor Lucrecia if I see her with Diego Ibarra.”
Lucrecia laughs at her father when she’s alone with Gonzalo and Gonzalo tells her that soon Macario, Miguel, and Patricio will soon take care of Don G. Lucrecia agrees with him and says the three men are doing their dirty work for them and don’t even know it. Miguel asks Macario what happened with Alex and if he killed him. Macario tells him that killling him wasn’t necessary and that Alex was just playing with Carolina and says, “But poor Alex if he ever touches her again. I want Carolina in tact. Completely virginal for me. For the day that I marry her…… It‘s already decided. Carolina will be my wife no matter what price has to be paid.”
Lucrecia tells Gonzalo her problems with Diego and his mystery woman and he expresses his pity for the mystery woman, saying that when Lucrecia finds out who the woman is, she’ll be in trouble. As Carolina sleeps, Edilmiro tells Victoria that Carolina is a special woman and that one day she’ll find a man who will truly love her and not play with her the way the Monteros did. Gonzalo tells Lucrecia she’ll make her father angry when she arrives at the art gallery with Diego Ibarra and Lucrecia tells him she plans on kissing Diego in front of her father and will do so because she wants to see him suffer.
Amalia continues to suggest to Carolina that she’s probably been tricked by Isabela, but Carolina doesn’t believe it and goes home. Amalia decides to investigate and find out what really happened even if she has to fight with Isabela again.
Martin is shocked that Patricio would want to see Don G dead. Martin and Patricio argue and when Martin reminds him that the reason Don G doesn’t treat him the way he treats Alex is because he’s a true Montero with Montero blood in his veins and Patricio is not. Angry, Patricio tells his father that he wishes he wasn’t his son and Florencia slaps him and tells him not to talk to his father like that. Alex tells Macario what happened when he went to see Carolina and assures Macario that he loves her. Macario tells Alex that women are fickle and leaves. Amalia asks Macario who he was talking to and Macario tells her he was talking to Alex who was upset. Macario then tells Amalia that he discovered that Alex really was just playing with Carolina.
Victoria tells Carolina that she has to go and speak with Maria who has something important to tell her. Before she leaves, Carolina asks if she’s in love with Diego and Victoria tells her that it isn’t important because she’ll never see him again. She tells Carolina that she’ll never let a man make her fall in love again. Carolina asks her who she was in love with before Diego. Flora warns Diego that he shouldn’t take Lucrecia to the gallery with him, but Lucrecia arrives and Diego leaves with her. Florencia calms Martin--who can’t believe that his son told him that he wishes he wasn’t his father--before returning to the living room to talk to Patricio. Patricio decides it wouldn’t be smart to argue with Florencia because she’s a Montero and calls her mama and tells her that she’s right and he was wrong. He offers to apologize to his father. Florencia tells him that she wishes she had a father like Martin. Alone, Patricio kicks the sofa angrily, calls Florencia an idiot and swears that one day the Montero ranch will be his.
Miguel tells Don G that he’s ready to leave for the gallery and Don G laughs at him, telling him that he won’t let Miguel appear with him in public. Gladys and Gonzalo trade insults and Gladys tells him not to get drunk at the gallery because his future daughter-in-law Isabela might be there and the newspapers might write about him in the papers, calling him a drunk. Gonzalo isn’t concerned and tells her he’ll do whatever he wants and tells her that he doubts Isabela’s going to be his daughter-in-law.
Martin and Florencia welcome Lucrecia and Diego to the exposition. Martin and Diego go to talk privately while Florencia can‘t believe that Lucrecia showed up with Diego. Diego congratulates Martin and they agree to meet the next day to talk. Diego tells him he doesn’t want to talk about Lucrecia; he wants to talk about another woman. He tells Martin that he wants his help in finding out what secrets Victoria’s hiding from him. Alex orders Isabela to tell him what she did to make Carolina angry with him.
