Carolina tells Don G that she doesn’t want his fortune and that her mother had other motives for coming to work on his ranch. He asks her what her mother’s motives are as Gladys tries to get Victoria to help her seduce Gonzalo by switching places with her. Christa tells Isabela that she doesn’t care that Renato is a narcissist who only loves himself because she loves him. Isabela thinks she is crazy as Christa warns that Gladys is more dangerous than they thought she was. Isabela reminds her that they all have to obey Renato’s orders and tells her that Don G is with Carolina. Christa is shocked that he went to see Carolina and promises to help Isabela get Alex back.
Carolina tells Don G that her mother’s motive for coming there was because she wanted to work on a prosperous ranch and find out how she failed in managing her own ranch. He learns that she and her mother had a ranch that they lost and comments that it explains why she and her mother don’t seem like servants. Gladys tells Victoria not to play innocent because she knows that she wants Carolina to marry Alex so that she can get the Montero fortune. Victoria tells her that Carolina and Alex are in love and she won’t allow anyone to separate them. She turns to leave, but Gladys stops her, asking her if she’s going to help her get Gonzalo. Victoria remembers the day that Gladys kicked her repeatedly in the stomach so that she would lose her baby and asks Gladys why she should help her. Gladys tells her that she should help her because she’s asking her as a woman in love and begs her. Victoria tells her that she’ll think about it.
Isabela tells Christa that she wants to find a way to make Alex think that Carolina is with someone else and Christa tells her that they’ll get Renato to help them. Macario and Miguel learn from Patricio that Ruben is the executor of Don G’s estate. They think that Ruben might be trying to manipulate Don G and wants to make Gerardo Don G’s heir. Miguel tells Patricio that Gerardo is good for nothing and all he cares about is gambling. Patricio isn’t so sure, telling them that he saw the work that Gerardo did at the office and it wasn’t bad. Miguel isn’t convinced that Gerardo did the work himself and tells them that perhaps Ruben did it for him so that he could earn points with Don G.
At the office, Gerardo praises Bianca’s work but she tells him that he’s just exaggerating. He tells her that what she did in an hour would have taken him days to complete and that she was born for this kind of work. Bianca tells him that she regrets that her father thinks business is only for men and says he’d go crazy if he knew she could do all that. Miguel, Macario, and Patricio continue to think that Ruben is doing Gerardo’s work for him. Miguel is impatient and they try to calm him down, but Miguel tells him they don’t have time to waste and storms out. Don G takes his leave of Carolina, offering to teach her about how to manage a ranch. He tells her to come to his office if she wants to learn and she asks him why he’s offering and if it’s just because he wants to study her more in order to see if she’s good enough for Alex. He tells her that she’s partly right, but that he also likes her. As Don G walks away from Carolina, Miguel watches in the background, realizing that he has to kill Don G and he has to do it immediately so that Carolina and Alex don‘t get everything.
Patricio tells Macario that he wants Don G to leave him as executor of his estate. Diego tells Renato that he’s not selling his ranch. Renato decides to stop insisting and look around for other properties. He asks Diego if he lives alone or if he’s married. Diego tells him that he’s alone and plans on staying that way. German is with Claudio when they see Victoria go into the kitchen. German tells him that Victoria is the woman that loves Diego, but that they aren’t together because Victoria is with Gonzalo Montero. Claudio makes a comment about getting rid of all of Diego’s enemies.
Renato tells Diego that he seems to be suffering from woman troubles and Diego tells him that it’s none of his business and has nothing to do with the ranch. Renato offers him one of his collection of women, but Diego tells him he doesn’t need his help. Victoria goes to see Maria and tells her that she’s found the perfect way to get her revenge against Gladys. Lucrecia talks to Martin and Florencia about her plans to marry Diego. Florencia tells her that Diego doesn’t want to marry her and Martin tells her not to make someone marry her when she knows he doesn’t want to and that what she’s thinking to do isn’t as easy as she expects it to be. Lucrecia tells him that she’s a woman and she knows how to make him fall in love with her. Martin reminds her that Diego loves another woman and she yells at him, telling him that he doesn’t have to keep reminding her every moment of every day that Diego thinks he’s in love with another woman. She vows to make him hers.
Florencia tells her that every day she reminds her more and more of their father and points out that her trying to force Diego into marrying her is the same thing that Don G tried to force them into doing: making them marry someone despite how they felt about it. Lucrecia isn’t convinced and gives her sister a look and says that she’s not like other people who based their marriages on lies. Martin looks at the two of them and asks Lucrecia what she’s talking about. Lucrecia suggests that he ask Florencia to tell him about the secret she’s been hiding from him since they got married. He asks Florencia what her sister’s talking about and Lucrecia decides to leave, saying it’s none of her business, but Martin stops her, asking angrily, “Why did you say that about your sister?”
Constanza continues to look at photo albums when Martin arrives and asks her why she has so many albums. Constanza tells her that they contain the happiest moments of her life and shows her some pictures--of her with her siblings and her mother, then of her and a boyfriend she had when she was younger. As she flips through the album, she stops on a picture of her, Lucrecia, and Florencia holding a baby (Mariana/Carolina).
Lucrecia tells Martin that she said what she said because she can’t believe that anyone can be as happy as they appear to be. Martin says that she’s just jealous of their happiness and she admits it, angrily and walks out. Florencia tells him that Lucrecia is crazy and promises that she’s not hiding anything form him. She kisses him and thinks to herself, “I have to talk to Lucrecia. Martin can’t find out anything.” Alone, Lucrecia says that she is jealous of Florencia and can’t understand why the three of them all made the same mistake, but only she and Constanza have to suffer for it.
Florencia confronts Lucrecia and asks why she wants to ruin her marriage when she only wants to help her. Lucrecia doesn’t believe she really wants to help her and accuses her of flaunting her relationship with Martin in her face, without any consideration for the pain that she (Lucrecia) is going through. Constanza lies to Martina, telling her that the baby belonged to a friend of theirs. Martina notes a resemblance to Bianca, but Constanza is adamant that it’s not Bianca. Martina asks her why it pains her so much to talk about the baby and Constanza says that she’s just sad because she hasn’t seen the baby and the baby’s mother in a long time. She gets a phone call from Florencia and tells her that they all need to get together and talk about what happened.
Carolina tells Alex that her meeting with Don G went fine and he’s surprised as Victoria tells Maria what Gladys wants her to do and that Gladys is in love with Gonzalo. Maria thinks what she’s doing is crazy and that during all the time she worked at the Montero ranch, all Gonzalo and Gladys did was fight like cats and dogs. Don G finds Gonzalo and insults him. He complains that Gonzalo only gave him one grandchild and Gonzalo reminds him of the child he was expecting with Luisa. Don G says he hopes the child was never born and Gonzalo tells him that he hopes the child was born and that one day, he’ll find it and bring it back to the ranch so that it can get what rightfully belongs to him/her. Don G watches angrily as Gonzalo walks away.
Gladys, Isabela, and Christa plot and scheme, trying to find a way to break up Carolina and Alex so that Isabela and Alex can be together. Renato gives Diego a card with his information on it and tells him to call if he ever needs a woman for distraction. He suggests they have another drink and Diego pours him another as Renato asks him the name of the woman that’s got him so upset, but Diego tells him that’s his business and no one else’s as Victoria tells Maria what really happened with Gonzalo. Gladys tells Isabela and Christa that they should send Carolina flowers or something so that Alex will think there’s some other man in her life. Don G sends for Isabela as Gladys and Christa wonder why he wants to talk to her.
Don G meets with Isabela and tells her that he spoke with Carolina and Carolina refuses to let Alex go. Isabela asks if he’s going to throw her off the ranch and he tells her that she can stay for the moment. He tells her that he wants to see how she will fight for Alex. She tells him that she will definitely fight for him because she’s not the type of person who likes to lose. He offers her a piece of advice, telling her not to let Carolina’s sweet face fool her, because she’s not an idiot.
Carolina goes to ask Macario if she can leave now that she’s finished her work and he tells her that he likes that she’s hard-working and gives her his permission, telling her that he’s going with her. She asks why he has to go with her and he tells her that he doesn’t want her going out alone, not after what happened earlier with Diego Ibarra. Carolina thanks him for his concern and tells him that she’s not going by herself, she’s going with Alex who invited her to go fishing with him and she doubts he‘d want Macario to accompany them. Behind her, Patricio asks, “Are you the girl that’s in love with Alex? Or should I say: the girl who’s in love with Alex’s money? Is that the way it is?”
Carolina defends herself against Patricio and his accusation and Macario asks he why she came to ask for his permission to leave when she knows that he can’t tell Alex “no” because he’s his boss’s grandson. Carolina tells him that he (Macario) is her boss and she thought it best to ask him for his permission to leave. Amalia walks in on Macario yelling at her friend and asks why he’s shouting at her. He tells her that it makes him angry that Alex is playing with her feelings. Amalia assures him that Alex loves Carolina and Carolina leaves after agreeing with her. Amalia tells Macario not to worry about Carolina so much or she’ll start to get jealous. She smacks him on the butt as she walks out.
Isabela goes to see Alex. He’s getting his fishing gear together and asks what she wants. She tells him that she wanted him to ask her to go fishing with him and calls him “my love”. He tells her that he’s not her love and she warns him that he’s going to regret leaving her. He asks if that’s a threat and she tells him that Carolina is going to hurt him and when she does, she (Isabela) will be waiting for him. He leaves. Gladys tells Christa that she’s worried about Renato because he’s been gone a long time and Christa isn’t worried and is sure that Renato is convincing enough to get Diego to sell him Los Encinos. The conversation turns to Victoria and Gladys tells her that he’s set on trying to destroy Victoria.
German introduces Claudio to Edelmiro and Claudio accidentally reveals that he was in jail. Edelmiro promises that he won’t tell anybody when German tells him that Diego doesn’t want anyone to know. Edelmiro asks if Victoria is the reason Diego doesn’t want anyone to know and German tells him that he doesn’t think so because Diego and Victoria had a fight.
Victoria is still talking to Maria when German, Claudio, and Edelmiro walk into the kitchen. German introduces Claudio to Maria, but ignores Victoria. Maria asks him if he’s going to introduce him to Victoria and German turns to her, asking her how she could play with Diego’s feelings like she did. Diego assures Renato that he’s not going to sell his ranch and Renato asks him to teach him about managing a ranch because he wants to know everything there is to know. Diego agrees and offers to show him the horse. He tells him to follow him to the kitchen because it’s the quickest way to get outside to the horses.
In the kitchen, Victoria tells German not to judge her because he doesn’t know the way things really are. Claudio asks German what they’re talking about. Before he can answer, Diego arrives and is surprised to see her. Renato walks in behind him, complementing him on his ranch, but stops in mid-sentence as he comes face to face with Victoria. Edelmiro moves forward, recognizing him, saying, “But this is….This is the guy that tried to kill Victoria!”
