Diego tells a detective that Gonzalo killed his brother and he wants to get the case reopened. Claudio and Edelmiro talk. Claudio is happy with his relationship with Bianca and Edelmiro plans to confront Santos because he thinks Santos and Rocio are involved with each other. Rocio talks with Santos and both wonder who’s going to be the person to take Don G’s place now that he’s dead. Santos asks Rocio out on a date and she tells him that she can’t because she and Edelmiro are a couple. Victoria tells Rocio how bad she feels after everything that’s happened and assures her that she has no intentions of marrying Gonzalo. Gonzalo tells Gladys that there’s no longer anyone around to protect her and he’s going to toss her out on the street. She tells him that he’s not going to do that because she knows a secret that’s going to make him do whatever she wants him to do. He laughs at her, but she shuts him up when she tells him that she knows he killed Diego’s brother.
Victoria goes to see Don Chema and asks him what her grandmother (Dona Lencha, who was friends with Don Chema) would do if she were in her shoes. She tells him that there’s a lot she has to do and she wants to see Alex and Carolina married and doesn’t want Carolina to ever find out she isn’t her mother. Amalia approaches Carolina and tells her that she came to talk to her. Carolina wonders why she wants to talk to her when she hates her so much for what she thinks she did to her. Amalia tells her that Isabela is looking for her and she wanted to give her a heads-up. Isabela chooses that moment to show up and interrupt them. On her very best behavior, she asks Carolina for her help with Alex.
In California, Renato hands over documents containing the signature he had forged so that he could gain control of Victoria’s fortune, saying that she wants him to handle everything because she and her daughter are leaving the country for a while. Victoria tells Don Chema that if he helps her get Alex and Carolina back together she’ll leave town and go back to her ranch in California. He tells her that there’s nothing she can do about Carolina and Alex’s situation and for the moment, she should be more concerned about her finances. She tells him that money is the last thing she’s worried about, and he tells her that she’s about to lose everything. He continues to try to convince her to pay attention to what’s happening with her money and tells her that she’s too late to prevent it now.
Renato’s plan works and he has control everything. Victoria continues to ignore his warnings and wants help with Alex and Carolina. Carolina tells Isabela that Alex is free of her and suggests she go and see him because she can’t help her. Isabela tells her that she has to help or Renato will kill her. They are shocked at what she said and ask her what she means. Realizing her mistake, she tells them that she has to marry Alex because her “uncle” is very strict and would want her to marry her baby’s father. Alex thinks about Carolina and how she broke up with him. Gerardo walks in and learns what happened with Carolina. Isabela continues to beg Carolina to help her get Alex to marry her for her child’s sake, but Carolina tells her she can’t do anything for her and to leave her alone. She walks away and Amalia follows her as Isabela wonders what she’s going to do now.
Diego talks to the detective in the hopes of getting the case opened as Gonzalo asks Gladys why she thinks he killed Diego’s brother. She threatens him, telling him that she owns him now. Victoria visits with Maria and tells her that she and Diego were right and she’s decided to give up her revenge and return to her ranch in California because Don Chema warned her something was happening with her finances. She also admits that another reason she wants to leave is because she’s afraid of Gonzalo. Gladys tells Gonzalo that he now has to do whatever she tells him to do. He tells her that he didn’t kill Diego’s brother and even if it were true, she has no proof. She threatens to go to the police and he tells her that the murder investigation has been closed for years now.
Diego tells the detective how he found out that Gonzalo killed his brother. He tells him that the reason Don G kept trying to buy his land--because he wanted Diego to leave so that he wouldn’t be around to find out who was really responsible for his brother’s death. The detective agrees to do some investigating. Gladys wonders what Diego would say if she told him what she knows, but Gonzalo tells her to tell Diego or whoever else whatever she wants to tell them. He tells her that if she’ll stay out of business that doesn’t concern her, he might be nice enough to give her a little money once they’ve divorced and she’s left out in the cold. Gladys tells him that Alex is going to inherit everything and she’ll have all the money she could ever want because he won’t let his mother be thrown out like garbage.
Alex tells Gerardo that he won’t give up on Carolina, saying that he plans to fight for their love. Gerardo tells him to take advantage of the fact that Don G is no longer arrive and kick Isabela out. Alex tells him that Isabela is far worse than Gerardo thinks she is, telling him that even if he kicked her out, she’d still butt into his life. Gerardo tells him that he has to do something to keep her away from him. Alex tells him that Isabela is a bad person, capable of anything, even hurting Carolina and he’s worried.Amalia catches up with Carolina and Carolina asks her why she came to warn her that Isabela was coming to see her. Amalia says she did it because they used to be friends. Carolina tells Amalia that Macario confessed to Alex and Amalia is upset at finding out that Macario is guilty of doing something so low.
Macario breaks into Mr. Ocampo’s office (Don G’s lawyer) and searches for Don G’s most recent will. He finds one of the cassettes and wonders where the other one might be and finds Ocampo’s camera. Gladys meets with Ocampo (the lawyer) and he tells her that Don G’s will stated that she wasn’t to be left a dime and gave his permission for Gonzalo to divorce her. Macario gete the other tape out of the camera. Lucrecia and Gonzalo meet and she tells him that Macario will have to make sure that Don G and the lawyer didn’t leave a spare copy of the will hidden somewhere. They are both excited, thinking that they will ultimately get their hands on everything. Gladys is angry at what she’s learned is in the will. She tells the lawyer that nobody can find out that Alex isn’t Gonzalo’s son. He makes it clear what the price for his silence is--her. She doesn’t look very eager to pay him.
Ruben finds Gerardo and Alex together and tells Alex that he’s a hard worker and has worked in the company many years and wants to know what might happen to his job. Alex tells him that he doesn’t think there’s be any changes. Ruben tells him that his job had better be safe and he’d better be paid what he deserved. He threatens to sue if his demands aren’t met. Carolina tells Amalia that her friendship meant a great deal to her and it hurt that she didn’t believe her. She is about to leave when Amalia stops her and tells her that she wants to be friends again. Carolina tells Amalia that she doesn’t want to be friends with her anymore because she wants absolutely no reminders of Alex or Macario or any of the Monteros and she’s leaving the ranch and going far away.
Diego and German talk when Victoria arrives and asks to speak with Diego alone. She tells him that she’s finally decided to leave and go back to her ranch in California. Gonzalo and Macario speak on the phone. When Gonzalo hangs up, he tells Lucrecia that Macario came through for them. Lucrecia is pleased and tells him that she has to go because she wants to be near Diego in case Victoria decides to drop in to see him. Gonzalo tells her that he warned Victoria that he’d kill both Victoria and Diego if she does. Victoria tells Diego how Gonzalo threatened to have sex with her whenever he felt like it. She tells him that she’s leaving and wants him to try to convince Carolina to forgive Alex so that they can be happy together. He is glad that she’s come to her sense, but tells her that no matter how far away she goes if Florencia finds out that Carolina is her daughter, she’ll still have to face that.
Victoria thanks Diego for all his help and he tells her that he wants her to know that he loves her, will always love her, and even though he’s done a lot of things that she can’t begin to understand or forgive, she will understand one day. He tells her not to ever forget that he will never stop loving her. They kiss. Lucrecia walks in on Diego and Victoria kissing and asks her how dare she kiss her husband. They turn to see her and Diego tells her that it isn’t Victoria’s fault and he’s the one who kissed her. He tells her that she knows how he feels about Victoria. Lucrecia is angry that he would make-out with another woman in her own house and reminds him that he’s her husband and she doesn’t care what he feels for Victoria and he has to respect her. He tells her to remember that he’s not her husband because he wanted to be. She tells him that knew what would happen if he’d refused to marry her.
Victoria asks Lucrecia what she’s talking about, saying that she knew Lucrecia had forced Diego into marrying her and wants to know how she blackmailed him. Florencia meets with her private investigator and he tells her he needs to speak with Lucrecia. He gives her good news--he knows that Luisa changed her name. She is excited, but he tells her that he doesn’t know what she changed it to, but he’ll know soon. She thanks God, thinking that very soon she’ll have her daughter back. Carolina and Claudio talk about Bianca and Alex. Carolina asks him what she could do to help out around the ranch. Alex loses his patience with Ruben and leaves him and Gerardo in his office.
Gerardo points out that the way Ruben’s happening won’t help his cause. Ruben turns his anger on him. Before Gerardo walks out on him, he tells Ruben that he’s going to support Constanza when she divorces him. Ruben laughs and tells him that she was talking nonsense because she was upset when she threatened to divorce him. Ruben tells him that his mother can’t live without him. Gerardo thinks just the opposite and vows to support his mother’s decision. Bianca talks to her mother about her feelings for Claudio and Constanza is thinking about getting a lawyer so that she can get her divorce. She thinks that because Ocampo was Don G’s lawyer he won’t help her and Bianca tells her that they can find another lawyer. Bianca insists that her mother divorce Ruben.
Victoria wants answers, but Lucrecia tells her that it’s none of her business and she won’t let her take her husband away from her. Diego tells Lucrecia to shut up and Victoria informs her that she’s leaving. Lucrecia can’t believe her luck and is happy to know that Victoria won’t be around to take up Diego’s attention. Then, she remembers her brother and asks Victoria what Gonzalo has to say about it. Victoria tells her that she’ll never marry Gonzalo. Lucrecia tells them that she has to tell Gonzalo what Victoria plans to do. Gladys tells Mr. Ocampo that she realizes that everything has a price and she plans to pay his, but wants to see the will first. She tells him that she wants to see if a professional might be able to edit the part of the will concerning her and Gonzalo and tells him that before she “pays him”, he has to help her make sure that Gonzalo doesn’t divorce her.
Macario shows Gonzalo the cassettes he took from the lawyer’s office and begins to rip it to pieces. Gonzalo is annoyed with him because he wanted to see what was on the tape before destroying it. He warns him against dong something without his permission in the future. Diego tells Lucrecia that she can’t tell Gonzalo anything, but Lucrecia insists that she has to. Victoria tells her that Gonzalo would kill her and asks if she wants to turn her brother into a murderer. Diego tells them that Gonzalo is already a murderer. They are shocked. Don Chema has in his possession a copy of Don G’s will (the one Don G gave him in case someone destroyed the original copy). He speaks aloud, saying that the whole family is going to destroy itself and will be surprised when they learn that he has a copy of the will as Amalia overhears him.
Amalia asks him what he’s talking about and tells him that she came to ask his help in trying to regain Carolina’s friendship because she now knows that Macario set Carolina up. He tells her that that’s a problem that will solve itself and tells her that she and everyone else should concern themselves with what’s happening to the Montero family. She asks him what’s going to happen and he tells her, “Murder. Destruction.” Gonzalo and Macario are sure that their plans will work.. Gonzalo reveals to Macario that Lucrecia is his accomplice. Lucrecia asks why Diego called her brother a murderer and Diego realizes he shouldn’t have said what he did. He covers quickly and Lucrecia realizes she shouldn’t tell Gonzalo because she wants Victoria to be far away. She tells Victoria that she’s lucky she’s not going to say anything. Victoria tells her to just make sure she keeps her mouth shut. She agrees to do so and tells Victoria to disappear.
