Well,
Dos-box appears to work for me (Win2000, PIII 600, 256 MB Ram), albeit, I have no sound (not that I've ever turned the sound on in CivIII) and I believe I have the same SQL lock (or whatever Sirian mentioned...). But, it appears like the game is running fine (a bit slow, but I don't really know how quickly it should run...).
I am definitely looking forward to learning how to play what others believe is the best 4X game ever written... Now all I have to do is wait impatiently until Sirian finishes his site...
