Jester: yeah, the Comet. Forgot that one. It's one of the nastiest, but also one of the more rare events.
I also forgot the Computer Virus event. Whichever civ gets hit by this event loses all research points invested into one of the six branches, chosen at random. That is, whatever the progress toward the next tech in that branch, it's wiped out and you start over on the project. This one can be major or tiny, depending on where and when it hits.
