NAACP - The NAACP national conference will be in Cincinatti Ohio this year between July 12 and July 17th. IT is important that the freedmen have a presence at this important event. WE ask that you attend the conference if possible.
Both Senators Obama and McCain will be presenters at the conference. Please contact us if you are able to attend this important event and can assist us in spreading the message of the freedmen.
If you cannot attend, we ask that you asssist by donating funds to help defray the costs of those who will be going to the conference , representing other freedmen and educating the other meeting attendants. Remember that the freedmen, unlike the tribes who have illegally disenrolled them and broken the treaties, do not get taxpayer funds to uphold the treaties. Help us fight for your rights. We thank you in advance for your donations.
The Freedmen Band of Cherokee will hold its next meeting on July 19th at the West Side Community Center, 501 s bucy; Bartlesville Oklahoma, beginning at 12:15pm. Special speaker will be John Gomez, president of American Indian Rights and Resources Organization (AIRRO), a non profit organization which fights for the rights of California Indians who have been disenrolled from tribal membership in violation of federal, state, or Indian tribal law. WE ask that meeting attendants bring a "covered dish" to share with other meeting attendants.
The Honorable Congresswoman Diane Watson was the keynote Speaker at the Descendants of Freedmen Association conference on June 7th 2008. The entire speech can be read online at:

We remind you to contact state and federal officials by fax, mail and email regarding your treaty rights to citizenship.
The website:

We want to encourage you as you make your vacation plans to strongly consider making a trip to Washington dc to meet with your representatives and others in Congress and ask them to support the freedmen.
OKlahoma NAACP state officials have set up an office in Oklahoma City. State President Anthony Douglas has requested that supporters of Civil Rights and justice send a dollar to the state office to assist in office maintenance. We remind supports of justice that the NAACP in 2007 approved a national resolution to support the freedmen.
