Every single person that shows up on this board needs to take the time to watch each and every committee meeting! If you have a relative that lives back home, encourage them to attend council meetings or at least talk to their council person! Velma talks about educating Cherokees and mostly she is right.... however those same Cherokees need to educate themselves just as equal!
Many years ago, I was the PTA president for my daughter's Jr High and there was always one woman who never attended the once a month PTA meetings but would complain to me how we spent the money and on what. I finally got fed up with her and gently challenged her with "I never see you at the meetings and just figured you didn't care how we spent the money, if you did, then you would attend and have a say." She and I are friends to this day and she has thanked me several times for "getting her involved." I didn't do it, she did.
The news and knowledge is out there, just seek it, don't be like my friend was... complain without any personal committment.
