| Every single person that shows up on this board needs to take the time to watch each and every committee meeting! If you have a relative that lives back home, encourage them to attend council meetings or at least talk to their council person! Velma talks about educating Cherokees and mostly she is right.... however those same Cherokees need to educate themselves just as equal!

Outlander, please don't get me wrong, I am not upset or attacking your post, but my only way of getting the point across that our Cherokees need to be educated along and beyond the college books and trade school textbooks. They need Confidence (sp?) building after so many years of living without HOPE!
This comment only shows how out of touch people are with the Oklahoma Cherokee poverty situations. These people ARE talking to thier council persons (actually begging for help)
How do you expect them to get to Tahlequah for a meeting with no gas, a car on one tire, no food, clothes with no money to wash them, and most importantly
enough CONFIDENCE TO WALK IN the council house with the inner feeling that it is part of thiers and they belong there!
this insecurity from above will always hold them back. The ones that can get to the meeting have thrown up thier hands and are tired of being humbled over and over again!
How can they possible know what is going on down the road to town if they never get to set foot on the road to town?
These people need help!
