Thanks to George W. Bush and the socalled Patriot Act, including wiretapping of Americans with no apparent cause, among other attacks on civil rights, America is quickly becoming something less than a "free" nation. I think it was Benjamin Franklin who said, "Those who are willing to sacrifice liberty for safety deserve neither." John McCain's domestic anti-terrorism policy proposals mirror those of George W. Bush. Whether you support the war in Iraq and want it to conintue or you want it to end, everyone should be able to agree that we should NOT curtail our civil rights at home. As a victim of wiretapping myself, and having suffered the devastating effects it has on home, security and family, I believe that wholesale wiretapping should be illegal and only used on American citizens when a court of competent jurisdiction has approved it based on real suspicions.
