Response to Some additional information...

Where I live, regalia, as well as bead classes are offered year round. Powwow etiquette is also taught. The "big show" is our annual powwow. These are youth groups and called upon through-out the year to perform. I guess a few might not be Indians, but they think they are. The large majority are authenic Indians.

Our goal is to establish and perpetuate Native pride as well as educate the Indian and Whites and others. Have to laugh, one year our county sheriff donated $2000 to the powwow and encouraged his deputies to attend, for a cultural training!

Like I say, depends on your community.
