In my younger days I owned a 70 440 6pack Cuda. If I idled around town a while ,in order to have my 3 dueces come on correctly, I had to go out and run the car hard to get the vapor out of end carbs and fresh gas in them , if I didn't do this step , car would fall on its nose and seem to back up,instead of going as intended, I blamed that on vapor lock. But what you state does make sense
