As it says it wants non hypoid rated oil. Hypoid gears need protection in both chrush and shear as they are spiral cut gears. The oil for those is rated for EP (extreem pressure)) the additives for the EP ratig are not good for yellow metal parts (brass ad bronze) typically used in shims, balking rings, and sycros of older transmissions.
I looked for it all over town and even called a couple of wholesalers that supplies bulk and other lub specialties to the local shops. They did not have the none EP stuff except in 5 gal pails. So I declined. NAPA had a Royal purple synthetic at 14 bucks a quart that said it was non corrosive of yellow metal, and then I foud some stuff at Tractor supply that is GL4 rated. That is the rating you want to look cor for transmissions with helical cut gear and bras synchros. GL5 for rear ends with spiral cut gears and trasmission calling for that rating. So GL4 for Trans and GL 5 is ok for Differentals.
I found no straight weight so I got the multi vis that included the specified single rating. 80/140 for the 90 wt app for example.
