Poor Idle & Backfiring

Check for an intake manifold vacuum leak, or any kind of a vacuum leak.
Take a propane torch and turn the gas on (without lighting it) and run it around the intake to block gasket surface at idle.
If the rpm changes, then you have an intake manifold vacuum leak.
