Today, I received my M-J issue of "Wheels of Time", the bi-monthly magazine of the American Truck Historical Society. WOW!! The ATHS is honoring Studebaker trucks at it's national meet scheduled in South Bend on May 26-29 (gee, next week). This latest issue of WoT is a real tribute to our favorite truck.
There are two full-length articles on trucking companies that were founded in and operated out of South Bend from the 1930's through the 1970's. There are many photos of Studebaker trucks in the articles on Shipper's Dispatch and Tucker Freight Lines. Also included are two-page illustrated pieces on the Studebaker National Museum and "A Tour of Studebaker's South Bend Truck Plant" based on a 1950 Studebaker publication.
Then to top these worthy presentations, there is a 1962 7E-28 Whattoff Toter in the For Sale section. It appears to be a decent truck for some Studebaker truck nut. It has all the Whattoff traditional specifications. Priced at only #2950!!
Sorry, I've never been successful posting photos on STT. Next week's meet in South Bend should be a great one.
Hope to see many of you there (if my knees and heart hold out til then). Frank
