I drilled the heads off the screws on the door side. With the door removed I drilled the rest of the screws out and retapped the plates in the door.
A note: as I recall the door screws are 5/16 fine thread. These are not standard hardware that you will find locally. I wasnt going to pay the exorbitant price from a Studebaker supplier although they are available from them. I found a different supplier and only paid about 15 cents each versus $1.25 or 1.50. You could retap the holes to a coarse thread and go to the hardware store and buy new scews for 10-15 cents each. I would have done that if I would have checked for the screws first.
