While looking at the new drive gear as compared to the old one they are really different. I cant say for sure that the pump was actually turning backwards but I can say that it is turning clockwise with the old shaft back in. I never ran the engine just cranked it over with the new gear so the spark plugs were not in play. I had originally reused the old gear when i assembled the engine as nothing was wrong with it, I switched to the new one out of desperation to solve the oil pressure problem but after it didnt work I put the old one back in as it seems correct and the new one does not. Sorry for the confusion. I still have minimal oil pressure and cant figure out why. On the last main bearing cap on the back of the engine there is a threaded hole with nothing in it. I dont think anything was there when I tore it apart but i am not sure. Is a plug supposed to go there? Thanks,
