m-5 top speedby Cole
I finally got the 1948 m-5 on the road today for a prolonged amount of time (45+ minutes), it seems to be geared really really really low, in third gear it struggles to go above 30mph, it would go faster it would just really be tached out and I don't want to do that to a fresh engine. I think I will need to change the ring and pinion because this slow is unsafe on any road. What are your guys top speed? I had my dad following me in a truck with a known good speedometer because the slightly bigger tires on my m-5 actually made my speedo read 40 when I was going 28-30.
By the way it is a 169 with a three speed and stock rear with an unknown ratio.
