O.D. ???

Are you talking a 3 speed with no O.D. My R was a early one "1941" with a top loader 3 speed with no Over Drive with a 1948 champion 170 And what I can remember would top out at about 60 but it was screaming at that speed.

1948 some had O.D. // I currently own a 58 with a 198 which is still about the same as the 170 and it without the O.D. ingaged Is terrible even in O.D. it's making some top end RPM noise at 55, and likes 45 for it's average speed even with O.D.

These trucks were meant for back before the interstates, But 30 M.P.H. the rear end gears almost had to be meant originally for a O.D. and even then much like mine not meant for much over 45 back in the day.
