If your M15 has Dayton wheels on it, it is a 1941 or 1942 M15. Daytons were only used as standard equipment on pre war M15s. What part of the wheel is wider? The wheel spokes should all be the same. The front and rear use different hub designs, but the spokes should be the same width where the rims are clamped. Are your rims different widths? The parts book shows two different rim widths for the 17" rims, 5" and 6". I can't find any reference to rim widths in the service manual, but it appears logical that the 6.00 or 6.50 X 17 tire would use the 5" and the 7.00 or 7.50 X 17 tire probably used the 6" rim. Those are the only tire sizes shown for the M15. I hope that this answers your question.
