I am getting ready to register my 53 2R5. I did a search online which coincidentally brought me right back to this board, for the unladen weight and GVWR of the 2R5s, which are 2675 and 4600 lbs respectively.
Earlier I had stopped at the local DMV to make sure I had all the pertinent paperwork in order before attempting to register the vehicle. I have no registration, neither did the former owner, which would have had the weights on it. The lady at the DMV just couldnt believe that the weight of the truck could possibly be 2675 lbs as most compact cars today weight more... and this is a truck!
I have printed off your responses to the weight question asked by others previously on this board. Here is my question:
Can you provide me with a scan of the actual data out of the Studebaker literature from which you got the information and email it to me? It may save me from having to register the truck at a higher rate, getting it weighed and re-registering again for the proper weight. Since I am not registering it with commercial plates, but rather with passenger plates, the unladen weight is what they will go by.
Can you help me out?
