Frank I am sorry that you have had to go through this, but I am happy that a decision has been made to go forward with a different treatment. Obviously the antibiotics were not working, so it sounds as if it was time to try something new. Often times this is a relief in itself just having a renewed hope in a cure finally.
On a positive note, there have been two people at the rehab facility where Dad is staying that have had the same thing done with removing the knee joint for a while until things clear up. I am happy to say the one of the patients was the mother of one of the nurses there, and the latest report was that she is up and around walking, driving, and going to the store. She is back to normal. Her recovery time was pretty short. I hope this is the result that you will get. The other patient did not spend much time in there either. She got out quickly, but I have no way to find out how she is doing now.
I know you always have a positive outlook, and you are an inspiration to those of us who have never had to go through something like that. Dad is the same way, and sometimes I wonder how he can keep his chin up.
