Not Getting Enough Gas

by

I put in a carburator kit on the 1949 2R5 and got it running. Now it cuts out when trying to accelerate, even when the engine is warmed up. It doesn't do it too bad when the choke is partially out. Is there a way to adjust the carburator to get it more gas? When I put the carburator kit in, I skipped the step associated with calibrating with that little paper ruler. Also, a couple of the driver side rear wheel studs are stripped. Is the axle nut also reverse threads? After getting the axle nut off, what's the best way to get the brake drum off? Can I tap or hammer on the backside to get it off? Also, the tranny pops out of 2nd gear when deccelerating. It will be awhile before I get to that. Your help is appreciated. Thanks
