New Doors, Squeeky Seat...by John Weinrich
Well folks, I have finally installed the new doors I have been working on just in time for the Sully Plantation car show that I will be competing (snicker) in. I will be in the heavy commercial class competing against a Mack truck...
The ride quality has improved considerably now that the doors are not making so much noise. Before the new doors, the windows flopped around because of no cat whiskers and the doors flopped on the cab because of no weatherstrip. The old doors also had no bottoms. I am now hearing all the other noises like the seat. Before I had the seat reupholstered, I cleaned up the wire and springs and gave them a good coat of Rust Bullet (same as POR-15) but did not replace the cloth covering where wires crossed. I was thinking about slitting plastic tubing, slipping it on the wires and use ty-wraps to hold them in place. Has anyone else had this issue and how did you solve it?
