Thank you everyone for your nice comments. My purpose was not to get praise (which is always nice), but to show how I built these, so others may build their own if they wish.
As for Dad, he is doing well. I got him out to the local swap meet on Fathers day where he picked up a light switch and a battery box for his 1913 Studebaker, and some hubcaps for his Kaiser. It was a good day!
