Brian, but I spent all day yesterday at the surgeon's office and the UVA hospital for preliminaries for my upcoming surgery. We left home at 10:00 AM and returned home at 6:30 PM. What a day!
To your request: Decoding-
Model Code- 3E14-131-C2
3....designates Studebaker truck models produced for the 1957-1958 model years.
E....code for the series of Studebaker trucks built for production years 1955 through 1964 (end of production for Studebaker trucks).
14...code for a nominally rated 1 ton chassis with a standard 245 cubic inch, flathead, side valve, 6 cylinder engine with a standard 4 speed manual transmission.
131..indicates the wheelbase of the chassis measured from the center of the front axle to the center of the rear axle.
C....code for 'cab'.
2....code for a standard Studebaker cab. Deluxe C4 cabs were available from the factory at additional cost.
Serial number- E14-2554
E....same as above
14...same as above
2554.the sequencial order in which this E14 truck came off the assembly line. The first '14' was produced for the 1951 model year as serial number R14-001, therefore this truck is the 2553rd model 14 built. This is a relatively scare model built over a period of 7 model years 1951-1957. An additional 502 E14s were built in the 1958 model year and an addtional 114 built in the 1959 model year. Apparently there were a small number of E14s built for the 1960 model year, the last year for E14's, however, I do not have that information available.
Color Code- 5750
5750..code for Sherwood Green on a C2 cab and body with Beige grille, bumpers, wheels, and hood nameplate. (This was the original paint scheme from the facory on this vehicle)
5751..code for Turquoise on a C2 cab and body with Beige grille, bumpers, wheels, and hood ornament. (This truck is now painted with this non-factory applied paint)
Brain, if you have other questions, throw 'em at me. I'll do the best I can to answer them. Frank
