Re: Kevin, 45-50 MPH is fast

by Kevin Heggi

I agree John, my experience with old trucks is limited to only one type....Fire Engines....48 mack with a top speed of 52 or so.....great truck, fun but slow certainly nothing compared to it's stable mate, a 2008 Custom...same type truck frame (international 4600) but it hits 65 easily...the two look a lot alike....amazing the difference 60 years makes....both are fun to drive, but the new one sure would be pleasant on a long haul....

My expected driving is going to be limited to local and less than 200 miles not every weekend either....I know it should stay off expressway / interstate / toll road types....I prefer to drive secondary Routes Indiana RT 6,12,20, and US 41,30,231,421...those are my usual streets....all under 55 mph....moderate traffic, or wide open....

I would be nervous driving a single master cylinder....figure at the first brake job, upgrade the brakes to dual MC and what ever else you all would suggest.

Planning on new tires, and the tallest that will fit, to try and trim down the rear axle gears...

Don't plan on going into the trucking business, but I am sure tired of borrowing heavy trucks from friends when they become available.
