Ron: Is the new drive shaft total length including he slip yoke the same as what you have or is it an inch longer?
There is a possiblity that you could use the shaft the way it is and the longer slip yoke will absorb some of that driveshaft vibration. if it will fit and not bottom out with a load it should work fine.
Check the slip yoik on the old shaft and look for wear. If the old shaft is too short and the slip yoke is contacting less spline than it should you would get vibration.
Lately when changing drive shafts in converted trucks I find the measurements in the parts book to be perfact.
