I really appreciate all the thoughts and ideas. I really like the idea of drilling the drain-back hole in the retainer. That seems to be easiest (and cheapest too.) Scott's idea about the gear lubricator is definitely something to check, also the condition of the slinger. I'm sure the majority of the oil was coming out the seal as there was a consistent oil drip on the front of the engine and it soaked my new fan belt. I'll have to check the draft tube also to make sure that it's not stopped up. Thanks again all for the suggestions.
