Besides completing the building of the stakes for my stake bed, I need to re-arch the springs. I bought a 25 ton press from HF. I have new bushings and slippery stuff that goes between the leaves. My plan is to remove the springs, take them apart, and re-arch them one at a time. I'll start with the longest leaf and bend it just a little every 2" and them go over it again in between the 2" spots. Subsequent leafs will be made to match that arch. I'll measure the before arch and compare that dimension to the after measurement. I think the key is to go slow and only bend a little at a time. I'm thinking that I'll add 2" to the spring when completed. Anybody know the usual sag rate? 2" per 60 years?
