Trying to find out if there is a Pertronics set up for my '57 Transtar pickup,1/2 ton 3E7, 259, automatic, original everything under the hood except power steering and AC. I tried to look at the plate on the distributor and of course it is facing to the rear and well worn. Would have to remove to read it. So I have looked in the parts book and come up with some numbers, I do not know for sure if they are the right ones.
Delco-Remy 1539895, 3672.
Has anyone tried to use this setup on their truck? Where do you get it from? Is it worth buying? I have had the weights and stuff changed out of the distributor but not totally rebuilt. Having a hard time keeping it timed and have problems starting when the engine is hot.Cold no problems at all. Motor has just been rebuilt. Starter and alternator rebuilt. Just bought an Altima battery with 1000 cranking amps because I keep killing the battery trying to start it. I am afraid to go anywhere as starting after motor is hot is a gamble at best. Most of the time I am stuck there until everything gets cold again.
Thoughts?
