A little tongue in cheek.....MY REALITY

by POd advocate (no login)

OK, I admit it, I was just trying to brighten things up a little with some black comedy. With all of this doom and gloom, why not a laugh or two. My loan statements are so ridiculous that I can do nothing but laugh.....($179,875 and counting) In reality I know that I am royally screwed as we all are. I graduated in 1998, and you know what absolutely kills me? I was sure that podiatry was not the answer back then but was too afraid to leave. I kept the blinders on and listened to the pod admininstrators who preached the baby boomer crap and the need for our services. We were all gonna make $300,000 a year doing tons of surgery and never have to use a beeper. What a load of crap. My friend left after the first year and went to some second rate caribbean medical school and is now in a a cardiology fellowship....How the hell is that for justice? I always thought that he would regret leaving podiatry to become a foreign MD, but he is like a pig in $hit now. He is am MD (albeit a foreign grad), but he has a pretty respected and bright future. Noone ever asks him where he got his MD, yet I am forever explainng podiatry to even educated people.

I clip and chip at nursing homes (for $37.83 an hour) along with doing foot screenings at an assocaites office in the shoping ,all area, and to top it off I work part time selling rainbow vaccum cleaners ( I can get you good financing at 18.9% now). I remain in economic hardship forebearance while my loans continue to spiral out of control. Who would ever think that going to a professional school could cause this much grief, despir in one's life. I am divorced (wife left me for an internist...go figure)It almost feels like we joined the mob and there is no way out. The sad fact is that I love medicine, just NOT podiatry. If I could meet the slick recruiter for pod school now I would punch him in the face. uggh, I gotta go, I have to cold call for appointments to show my rainbow system.
