Ouch-no harm intendedby Anonymous (no login)Why are you so angry about that statement? I was not blasting osteopathic medicine and I do realize what is involved. My sister just graduated from an osteopathic school in Cleveland. Around the time she graduated a lot of my patients asked where she was graduating from and when I told them many of them did ask what osteopathic medicine was. When I explained it to them and pointed out to them that many of there doctors are DO's, they would say things like "oh I just thought he was an internist, eye doctor, cardiologist, GP, ect... " As far as you "never" being asked what osteopathic medicine is, I really find this hard to believe expecially if you consider a casual social interaction you may have with another person. It's bound to come up, and this was the type of scenerio I thought I was addressing. I'm sure your experience you describe is correct as my sister often has protrayed a similiar experience in the hospitals, ect.. She is working hard in her internship to obtain a derm residency. As far the rest of your post and your surmise of the podiatry profession you are only partially correct. There are limitations if one does not receive formal PSR training. There is no "groveling" involved with my interactions with other medical specialities including DO's. A local orthopod who also happens to be a DO is appreciative of the foot and ankle work I take off his hands, and the DO internist that consults me for diabetic foot infections also appreciates my skills. So no there is no groveling here, but if there was I'm glad the neighborhood DO would be friendly. Let me guess- You attended podiatry school at some point in your life. from IP address 24.92.209.33 Goto Forum Home |
