Relax

You seem a little harsh, fourth year DO student! Perhaps you are a little too defensive. I think that this person was trying to make a point about how one would go about explaining osteopathic medicine to someone who had no idea what a DO was, and comparing it to the same process of explaining what a DPM is. I must say that you sound noble about being a medical student, however we are not MDs, and our standards for admission are a bit lower. If you read publications from the Princeton Review you will learn that when they refer to medical school, they mean allopathic only. They always have a section in their publications that refers to osteopathic programs, and talks about them as if they are only a second rate medical school. I do not know your reasons for being in this room, but I can tell you that I almost went through with podiatry school and changed my mind to enter Osteopathic medicine. I know that I will spend the rest of my life explaining what osteopathic medicine is, however I believe it is a better financial choice for me than podiatry school, and I do like the osteopathic philosophy. Good luck, and I know I have much to learn before I am a fourth year student.
