I got in today!!!!!! My storyby Just accepted (no login)After 5 long days I finally found out that I will be a student I made it FINALLY. I am gonna be a doctor. I have dreamed of becoming a doctor for all of my life. After struggling in my 1st year at Muhlenberg College (in PA) I rebounded and will be graduating this summer with a degree in Criminal Justice with minor studies in Premedical sciences. I thought that medicine was off limits for me when I bombed the MCAT (18) and did not get any interviews to allopathic or osteopathic med school this year (24 applications). Ironically it was a brochure from NYCPM that peaked my podiatry medical school interest. My college premed advisor never even talked to me about podiatry as an option. I didn't realize that podiatrists can do foot surgeries and do sports medicine. I am really into the sports medicine aspect of podiatry, and have dreamed of being a sports physician for a major or minor sports franchise. I applied late (June 29 th) but received interviews at all of the schools that I applied (NYCPM, OCPM, TUSPM, Chicago) and have just gotten my 1st acceptance. I am still offically waiting for word from TUSPM and NYCPM. Both interviews went well. It was such a nice feeling to be really wanted at the schools. I knew immidiately that I have found my calling. It certainly helps make up for the rudeness from the other medical schools that I applied to. The feeling I have is tremendous. All of those doubts and fears of worrying that I wouldn't make it to become a doctor are lifted from my shoulders. My family is taking me out to dinner to celebrate this day. When you guys got your med school acceptance what was it liek for you all? I do need some of your advice though. I am behind the eight ball with regards to finances for school. I owe only about 40 grand from undergrad, will this impact me in borrowing for podiatry medical school? I know I have alot of questions (I apologize), I am just glad that I found this site to talk about podiatry with other doctors amd med students. Talk to you all soon.
