Shot the moonby Anomalous (no login)You'd like to think that, Anthony, wouldn't you? You'd like to think that life is fair and that podiatry will give you back everything you put into it? Sorry to bust your bubble. All other medical schools are merit based. That's called getting something back. I hope you don't imagine that your 3.9 GPA is going to help you with anything. Insurance companies respect the title MD and DO. Not so much DPM. That's called getting something back. Check out Dr. David's informed post today. He WORKS in the insurance industry, (which says something for the DPM degree) and can tell you first hand how podiatrists are "respected" in what they do. MD's and DO's get paid something commensurate with their training. DPM's get less. MD and DO students go into debt, but can start paying their loans back right after finishing their residencies. All of them can. Most DPM's struggle. That's called getting something back. MD's and DO's have a multitude of ways to repay their student loans through loan repayment programs. DPM's dont. That's called getting something back. My residency paid my $10,000 per year to do the same stuff that the MD's were doing. The MD's STARTED at $30,000. I was forced to wait tables on the weekends to supplement my stipend. The podiatry residents went on strike (led by me), negotitated with the city council and hospital administration, got the money needed to raise the stipend to $20,000 only to have the entire program cancelled the next year. MD's get something back, DPM's don't. But since there's no competition to get into podiatry school, getting less might just equal out. from IP address 63.206.142.221 Goto Forum Home |
