reality?

Concerning the "realities" proposed by a few of you over the last several years on this site:

1. I'm going to graduate in May. I thought you said all of the schools were going to close. I haven't seen one close yet, and a new one is opening next fall.

2. I got a surgical residency. I thought you said one had to have connections. I didn't have any. 80% of my classmates also already know where they are going to match, and they all have surgical programs as well. The other 20% are just waiting to see where the computer places them, and I'll bet they get good programs as well.

3. I met 100's of very happy and successful podiatrists in my 4th year. I thought you said most everybody was poor and miserable.

4. Most of the finishing residents I met already have job offers guaranteeing them at least $70 grand plus bonuses their 1st year. I thought you said they'd be stuck with associateships paying $35 grand with no bonus.

5. Everywhere I have been the clinics and surgery centers are busy. I thought you said the PTs and nurses were going to shut us down.

6. According to latest survey with a very large sampling and cross-section of experience, the AVERAGE podiatrist is making well into 6 figures. I thought you said there were only a few making 6 figures.

7. The number of podiatric applicants has increased for the last 2 consecutive years. I thought you said it would just keep going down every year until the profession was no more.

I could go on and on, but I'm eager to read more of the latest "gloom and doom" posts.
