Especially with the quote, "But, anything bad could never happen to you, Stu Pod, as you are so much better than everyone else." This I could quote about 6 or 7 podiatry students I met during the past 15 years. They were optimistic, had all the answers and assured me that they would do much better than I was doing bec they would offer the public a lot of latest treatments that I wasn't doing. Where are they today? They all quit the profession for various reasons -they claim. The real reason was lack of INCOME. I spoke to a dentist a few years ago and he absolutely hates dentistry, he liked it during the 1st decade of practice, but now he hates it. But he loves the lifestyle it provides him and his family, so he works 30 hours per week and nets $100,000/year and his wife works as the manager for his practice and she makes $50,000/year. Their 3 children attend private schools and his family takes vacations during the school holidays to attend dentistry conferences (for his wife and himself) so a portion of the vacation expense is a tax write off.

The podiatry income AVERAGES are fixed to show that pods are doing quite well. If I did a survey of the 100 pods in my city, I could ignore the the top 25 big income producers and come up with an average figure of about $40,000 net income. Well Stu Pod and his classmates would cry foul and claim that I fixed the numbers. So I don't waste my time trying to come up with stats that conflict with stats that were done of 3,000+ pods across America. Why bother? My attitude is let Stu Pod and fellow grads get out there, open up privately and see how well they do. Then they can report their success or lack of success on this Forum.
