Good suggestion, but here's a bit of my reality : (

A public health nurse (makes $60K pa salary) works in a seniors only building for 500. She makes sure they get their meds TID and does dressing changes and general assessments during her 8:30-4:30 shift, then everyday after work she goes apartment to apartment trimming toenails at $10/person. The people there know her and like her and they don't come to see me. At extended care seniors building there is a nurse who bills the residents $20/treatment she is not on payroll at the building. So thanks to these nurses doing foot care at the seniors' buildings my practice is slow. I can attribute the slow situation to nurses out there who are doing housecalls for anyone who needs basic foot care. As for surgery, the orthopods have cornered the market so I do almost no surgery and nurses are probably referring patients asking about surgery to orthopods. So Podiatry Resident thanks for the suggestion but in my case I don't have enough business to be able to hire a nurse or a pedicurist and my net income is not even close to the public health nurse who is getting a salary and a steady second income for doing nail care.
