ok, I will try to answer some questions. You ask why the dean or clinical dean from DMU or other deans arent responding. Well thats because Im pretty sure that none of them actually read this pathetic little forum. Also, the DMU dean and clinical dean are the same person right now as the clinical dean left for another opportunity and the dean took over both rolls.

"1. Since, CPMS did not assist in my obtaining my residency and in fact no longer provides slots for residency training, Does any one else out there feel the same ?"

Why should the school provide slots for residency? are you not able to get one on your own merits? I feel that most school residencies are for people that cannot match with other programs so the school takes pity on them. I dont expect the school to get my residency. I only expect them to prepare me for my residency. I am currently in my residency and feel that I was prepared for it. Im not saying I was prepared because of DMU or through my own hard work, but somehow I was prepared. So I do not hold that against DMU.

"2. Would other alumni care to answer is Des Moines a better college ? Did it prepare us for CASPR or CRIP ? Perhaps the Dean would answer this question. I remember being in the same class room with the DOs for two and half years-graded on the same scale and treated like second class citizens by the instructors."

I also went to DMU and did feel that they did a good job of having mock interviews and other activities to get me ready for CRIPs. I do not feel that there is any way to be completely ready for it, but I was as prepared as I could hope to be. I was in those same classes with DOs and no instructors ever made me feel like a 2nd class citizen. Some of the other students may have acted like that towards me but not the instructors.

"3. If the other Podiatry Colleges have joined established medical centers and schools. What does that state for our profession ? Yes I practice as a solo practioner (nursing homes and lots of nails) By training at CPMS was complete."

I have no idea what you are saying here...it makes no sense to me and I dont think its a real question.

"4. How many of my classmates jump to DO/MD training after disappointments ?"

you tell me...I dont know about your class. I had several classmates transfer during 1st year or leave. And I do think the school is to blame because they took a lot of people that had no business being in medical school and couldnt handle it.

"5. CPMS dictates Surgery-Surgery-Surgery-Please review their faculity- At residency interviews it was oh you went to Des Moines (next please)"

In general I will say the faculty is not the best surgically trained. But at the same time we do not need to learn a lot of surgery in school. That is mosly for residency and if you get a surgical residency. I know there are some programs that do not like or take students from des moines, but at the same time there are programs that only take DMU students are rank them highest.

"6. I do want to thank the director at DMVA at mountain home he was honest and enlighten me to the score-I was not qualified for his RPR PSR. It seem to be a great program-I wish I could have qualified."

thanks for sharing...but I doubt he reads this forum either. Most successful people do not waste their time reading this because they do not need to hear about how bad this profession is and they really dont have time (you know, running s successful practice and all)

"7. As I keep running toward salvation in the podiatry profession with Inspector Jarrod chasing me it seems I am podiatrist without a home. I guess that is why podiatrists eat their young because the PIE is all gone"

blah, blah, blah! - I disagree. I see too many residents graduate from their programs and get nice starting offers and good short term and long term deals to believe that there is no Pie left. I also see areas where several podiatrists are doing well and a few arent. I have been in their offices and can see why there is a difference. Its not usually podiatry, its usually the podiatrist. He or She has made some bad decisions or is not good at running a business. but that isnt a problem with podiatry...its a common theme in all of medicine. Im sorry you feel cheated and do not like your school. I went to DMU and I like the school. No I do not donate because I dont really feel the need or see where it helps the school much since they already make a fortune off of tuition alone.
