Working with an Ortho Groupby Anonymous (no login)Hello. My husband and I were partnered with an Orthopedic group for over 7 years. We were asked to combine practices after being well known and respected in our medical community. There were 4 orthopedists originally. Over the years another was added, as well as a general surgeon. The Doc that answered you before was very good wrt details of the relationship. Medically, it was great for us. We referred patients to each other on a daily basis. We did not wish to cover the E.R., and a couple of the ortho guys wanted to, so that was easily decided. We worked together in surgery on ankles, and had instant in-office opinions when needed. Financially, we merged our two corporations. At first it was great, but then a management group got involved. After 2-3 tries with these companies, the group was struggling with high overhead and low collections last we heard. It may be better for them this year. We left the group/area when my husband was forced to retire for medical reasons. All of the Docs in our group were very accepting of our profession, and we were all friends. Basically, handle the business relationship as you would any partnership or employment deal. Hire your own lawyer. We were all employees of the one corporation, with covenants and policies extending to all. Best of Luck with your decision. from IP address 24.26.127.98 Goto Forum Home |
