tough decision

I am a recent college grad that was pre-med. I work in a cancer research lab at Johns Hopkins and am thinking about taking classes and applying to med school and podiatry school. My grads are mediocre (3.0/4.0) and my MCATS are not very competitive (low 20's). Would you consider podiatry as a viable option or persist in applying to medical school? I may not get into medical school even in 3 or 4 years. I may be able to get into podiatry school now. I will have the opportunity to get publications and earn credits for free while at Hopkins. Any suggestions welcome for a student who is appalled at what he's seen on this forum. I have a hard time believing that many of these people are podiatrists, mush less mature, responsible adults with spouses and families given the nature of their comments and their outlook on life. However, if any part of this forum has truth, then it poses a lot of concerns for me in my consideration of pursuing podiatry. Thanks.
