Re: Dear 'doctor'

Dear Mr. "M.D."

First off, I was caught up in the heat of an argument. If I offended you I apologize. That being said, Chriropactors are traditionally limited to to the manipulation of the spine, just as you replied. That is pretty much it. They are not qualified legally or traditionally to work on the intire body as you also lay claim, unless you beleive in that whole chriropractic philosophy mumbo jumbo. Chriropractic schools are the only medical programs that teach their students to misguide their patients in to thinking that chriropractic methods are right for them. Most of them are quacks that hurt more people than they actually help. So maybe you can understand why I do not wish to be compared with them. I do not dislike them simply because most people consider them to have the lowest and easiest medical degree to obtain. I dislike them because of the way they are trained and their philosophical beliefs. However, I am not going into their forums and telling them exactly what I think of the profession they have chosen. I would consider that unprofessional "doctor" and need I say ineloquent. If MDs are so busy and so stressed out then how can they find time in their superior lives to post their opinions on a forum that is not designed for them. Maybe you can explain this to me Mr. RD. I read what other MDs negatively post in this forum and propose a question. If you believe DPMs only work on fungal nails then why do you dispise us? Do you wish you were the ones who were doing that? That is not all we do, and you know that! We can perform any kind a surgery of the foot and ankle and are not limited to only feet as you also lay claim . We specialize in anything below the knee. I don't know how you did in your anatomy and Physiology classes "doc" but that is a lot more than just feet or fungal nails. Sure we have to deal with some juicy things sometimes, but these things have to be done. An orthopedist does less than 10 foot and ankle surgeries during residency. If I really need foot or ankle surgery I do not think I would choose an ortho over a pod. However, I do think that othopedists are amazing physicians. I do not think they are as qualafied as DPMs when it come to the foot and ankle.

Whatever happened to the good old days when being a doctor meant more than pestige, money and a suffix behind your last name. Being a doctor is about treating your patients and helping others. You need to question your attributes "doctor". Odviously you have lost touch with them. All someone like you cares about is how much respect you can earn with your degree. This is obviously the case. If it were not, you would not be in this forum in the first place, bashing those who you think are under you.

If you choose not to label DPMs as physicians than that is your prerogative. I will go on each day doing what I do best. If I have to deal with diabetic feet or fungals nails that is fine. If I have to do foot or ankle surgery that is fine too. I make a difference in people's lives and that is what it's all about.

Good day
and God Bless You,
Dr. Caraway, podiatrist
