NBPME in need of a serious over haul!by Anonymous (no login)The NBPME part I is a very difficult test. Filled with off the wall questions not minimal competencey type questions. After the scandal in 2002 the NBPME changed the format froma computer generated format to a pencil paper 150 question format. Since that time the failure rate has gone sky high. The NBPME will not release these numbers for the last 2-3 years or even recognize a problem with the test. As a result of the investigation which found in favor of the students in OHIO and the change in the format they raised the fee from $625.00 to $900.00. We in Podiatry talk about eating our young and the cost of the DPM degree. This is a prime example why people are disgruntled. Expecting $900.00 from a second year Podiatry student is ridiculous! The study exam which was made available on there website www.nbpme.com for the July 6th exam is nothing more than the study data-base which had been used for years by BARRY and OHIO. This study guide was the source of the law suit and scandal. One thing you can bet on is that the NBPME is asking everything but those questions. Hopefully the APMA, The Podiatric Schools/Deans and the State Boards will soon realize that this board especially NBPME Part I needs serious consideration. I know for a fact in the last 10 years CSPM has NOT been asked for any basic science questions. Your best bet is to study the USMLE part I study guide, your lower extremity notes and good last minute book Crashing the boards part I. Even with all of that preparing good luck it is a crap shoot at BEST! from IP address 4.36.236.82 Goto Forum Home |
