Since the old guard paid probably a 3rd of what I did in tuition (even in inflation adjusted dollars) I still think that I can rightfully say I am "paying my dues" Yea and how much did you borrow to open your practice. I may have ONLY 80,000 in loans but borowed another 80,000 to open my practice. Paid all my loans of in 7 years. How? By working my tail off (like you are supposed to) and not spending anything but enough to make a life. Any extra went to loans. I had to fight for hospital privileges for me and those who followed and pay off loans at 12-16%. Dues are relative my friend Besides, I think that it is naive to believe that we can really change medicare policy on a long term policy. The writing is on the wall so why worry about it and why waste money "protecting our turf". Here it is for those of you who can't see it. If you are not a member of the APMA you are not spending any money, while we protect your turf!!! More medicare receipients = more medicare spending = more cost cutting = lower reimbursements or cutting (sniding) of our services. Smell the coffee and figure out how you are going to make a living when medicine in this county is fully socialized. I am told that in England, docs only make 80K us dollars /year. Could you live on that with your student loans? The answer: get off your keister and start reading books about investments /financial planning etc. Sound advice, you do the same and quit posting here.
