barry welcome to the 21st century...

hey man i don't know when you ppl will stop or get bored of the same podiatry bashing....low pay...no respect....low calibre students??

Look man, no one said that podiatry is for everyone...but at least learn to present ur information accurately and if u don't then do us all a favor and keep your ignorant opinions to yourself.

your "disclaimer" has been used for way2many times and if ppl actually stop and do research they will be pleasantly suprised. First of all, the students are not 'low calibre'. I take offense to that. I'm a third year student and i know my classmates worked their tails off in our classes and are all successful...i'll agree that not everyone in here had a 4.0 in undergrad but everyone here is qualified enough to maintain a very strong aveerage...and everyone in our class knows what to shoot for...a PM&S 36 residency which guess what...makes us very qualified to take the boards for rear foot certification as well...which means we would come out of residency with six figure salary contrary to your presumed "low pay".

My brother is a chief resident at the moment and he's already been offered a position with an orthopedic group (yes a group with MD's whom you claim don't know what a DPM is) and they will pay off his student loans (which you claim are mounting with no repayment). And you know what, he is just one example of successful podiatrist stories everywhere.

I'm not saying all this to promote podiatry to anyone. I'm merely answering your claims and telling you to check your facts now before posting things like that. I understand that not every podiatrist is a success story...but at the same time...MANY of them are...just like in every profession...you work hard...u invest the time...u succeed

Again, podiatric medicine is not for everyone. If you want to be a doctor go to MD school...if you want to be a podiatrist...come to podiatry schools...we are well respected by other MD's and DO's and healthcare professionals and I see this in my rotations and see this through my brothers success - so you can't tell me that a podiatrist with expert surgical training in foot and ankle surgery is not respected in the healthcare field - if you really do feel that way then you should actually get out there and see for yourself the work podiatrist do these days.

Anywyas, I wont say anythin further...at the end of the day, I am a future healthcare professional and my ultimate goal is to contribute to the overall health of our society with my work...if you can't respect my work then this is your choice and I thank you for giving me the chance to present my side of the story...

take care...and best of luck to you...
