Barry,

I'm not calling you a liar...but I have yet to hear of any failing podiatrist with 3 yrs of surgical training but maybe you have more experience than me in this field...all i can comment about is the circle around me which involved students, physicians, residents, attendants, and facculty. In this large circle, I haven't seen or heard of any of the things you talked about. Again, my experience isn't as vast as yours. However, you do raise a good point. With 150K in loans ALL should do well not some - in theory very true. If I invest over 150K i want to see return on my investment...at the same time, life is what you make out of it. You are given an opportunity to succeed and its at a price so make the most of it by learning as much as you can - thats what everyone i know in this profession is doing and has done and thats how they succeeded.

I'm not saying this profession is 100 percent perfect and is for everyone...but its still very rewarding both on professional and financial levels so i don't agree with your claims - if you want to go to MD/DO school then sure go for it...i made a choice with podiatry...and i'm happy with it...and yes i CHOSE podiatry...i didn't get rejected from MD/DO schools when i initially applied there at well...podiatric surgery was something i felt strongly about and i'm pursuing my passion...same way another prospective student could see what i see and pursue this passion...and same way you want to pursue your passion with your MD/DO school...nothing wrong with that...i just don't see a need to bash a whole entire profession and every person involved in it just because you didn't have a positive experience. I really don't...i don't see a purpose to your post...and it doesnt prove anything at all...nothing but your biased opinion as im sure you'll look at my post and judge it as 'biased opinion' as well...at the end of the day...one thing we can all agree upon is that your happy with your decision of leaving podiatry and i'm happy with my decision of continuing to pursue it...so be a professional and worry about becoming a successful physician who will one day be responsible for people's health instead of venting your frustrations on a public forum without any constructive points...

good luck to you sir
