"…collect around you beautiful, perfect, little things…"
We are humans. Our nature is to be imperfect. To have problems. To make mistakes. To wear out. To die.
Human nature has its limits.
But part of our nature is the will, the effort to surpass the limits. Progress. Human history is full of discoveries and achievements of every kind (exploration, science, technology, art, athletics). Although we die we strive for eternity, although we make mistakes we strive for perfection.
Watches represent a triumph of the human nature. Humans gave to watchmaking all their brain, their talent, their craftsmanship, their artistry and created something that in some aspects exceeds them:
Precision, Durability, Aesthetic Beauty.
Watches represent what a human CAN NOT BE, but at the same time CAN CREATE. Maybe we surpass our limits by creating something that surpasses us.
Furthermore, watches are not distant masterpieces, but everyday, USEFUL companions. Maybe, by having such a companion, we want to "steal" some of its perfection for ourselves.
We are very limited but at the same time we have great potential.
Thank you very much for your reply.
Your little message made me to spend some more time to develop the under construction site "the Heuer effect". It would be a site dedicated to not only Heuer watches but also to chronographs and diver watches from the 70's.
