The firhill music collective will be putting on pre match gigs in the maryhill area, this season. Periodically we will put on gigs in the city centre in the evening in order to increase the jags profile in the glasgow music scene. If an actual music scene could develop around the ptfc banner then all the better. Any proceeds from the concerts will be donated to the jags trust and a couple of local based charities.

On Saturday October 4th as part of the pre match build up to Partick Thistle welcoming League favourites Dundee to Firhill, Maryhill will become the centre of the Glasgow music scene for a few hours.

Maryhill Junior's Social Club will host Glasgow southsiders, The Primary School and up and coming Maryhill boys, The Echo Session.

The Primary School mix back to basics old style country and good old rock n roll. This 3 piece share vocals between male and female and like to get a good loud sound going, so I know they are relishing the chance to play the FMC and it's acoustic stage. As you'll see from their myspace page, for a band that has not been playing the live circuit for long, they are racking up the gigs, so to have them as the FMC's opening act is sure to be a good thing.

Second up is The Echo Session, the band have been touring the Glasgow circuit a few years now and are a band that everyone on the Glasgow gig scene knows, Taking inspiration from 50s and 60s blues and mixing it up with a bit of skiffle, has resulted in some great tune's including the infectious "Left Brain Prisoner". With their mini album due for release at the end of the year, 2009 could be The Echo Session's year.

So, lets hope we see you all there, Maryhill Juniors Social Club, Lochburn Park off Lochburn Road, just on your right after Maryhill Tesco. With the venue not even 20 minutes walk to Firhill or just 5 minutes on the bus, Maryhill Juniors are fully licenced and welcome children of all ages. Things will kick off around 12.30 with The Primary School on sharp, so make sure and get yourself there in plenty of time. Things will wrap up at 2.30 with The Echo Session off stage before this to allow the crowds to get down to the game.

The Firhill Music Collective are currently in talks with Partick Thistle and it is hoped that tickets for the Dundee game will be made available for sale from the gig and therefore cut down on travelling time. Don't forget, kids get in for free at Firhill too, so why not make it a family day out, take in a few bands then off to Firhill to watch the mighty Jags.
