MOST IMPORTANT FOR NEXT WEEK'S DIARY
Dear Skaters, Friends and Colleagues
There will be a display of alternative proposals for development of the Station Site Altrincham (behind Altrincham's railway & bus station and bounded by Moss Lane & Oakfield Road) including provision of a new Ice Rink to replace the one that closed in April 2003. Development proposals for the site will include other proposed facilities (such as a car park) as well as an ice rink. These will all be shown at the display.
The display can be seen, first, at an open Trafford Council meeting to be held on the ground floor of Altrincham Library (opposite the railway station) between 6pm and 9.30pm on Thursday 22 April. It is hoped that developers' representatives will be present at this meeting. You will be able to question them and Trafford Council officers, and be able to submit written comments on special sheets provided.
You will have a further opportunity to visit the display on the next two days, Friday 23 April and Saturday 24 April between the hours of 11am and 5pm, in a vacant shop, The Gallery, at the Regent Road end of George Street, Altrincham, near the Dome. Trafford Council officials will be present to answer questions. Comment sheets will again be available for you.
Trafford Council will shortly select ONE of the four developers' proposals you will see at the display. This is your chance to influence their selection decision by using the comment sheets to:
1) Reaffirm the urgent need for a permanent, full size ice rink with all the necessary facilities for recreational skating, figure skating, speed skating and ice hockey.
2) Indicate which proposal(s) you favour (and if necessary, any proposals that you feel are unsatisfactory)
3) Make important comments on the strengths, weaknesses or omissions from the ice rink proposals (and/or other facilities)
Please tell all your skating and ice hockey friends, and the parents of skaters, about the timing and location of this display in order to make the most of this opportunity. Thank you for your support.
