I wonder if they're aware of the site being built in altrincham? I supose even if there was a rink with a whole junior setup they'd still take credit for 'securing the future of Ice Sports in Manchester'
So In say 8/9 months they'll have a new building ready? I'd like to see it happen. but not to sure. Hope it isnt in beswick near the city of manchester stadium, its well rough
Also itis a shame all these councils sponsors and developers money etc were not available 18 months ago when the old rink went.
Yet we lose another Elite League/Superleague team and the money etc is miraculously there. If the MEN had been viable would they be queueing up to build a rink and show interest in development
Then again that was only a development set up not import hockey or am I just being cynical.
I'm pretty pee'ed off at this. They make it sound like theyre the only ones to think theyre trying to get hockey back to manchester. I'm not fond of the FoMIH, they seem clueless
I agree with Mark in that most of the news about both projects has been void of firm promises, but that's hardly a surprise as there's still a long way to go before either rink (if any )comes to fruition.
The trouble is that so many people want one or other or both projects to work so much that some of them will tend to read a more into annoncements than is actually there. It's human nature.
Somehow a balance needs to be struck between announcements and aspirations.
I know what I'd like to see and whilst I won't hold my breath I won't give up hope.
See some of you at Deeside before Xmas, if not tomorrow then next week for sure.
It is still a pity the alledged backers for the Phoenix were not there at the start of last season we may then be looking at a rink comeing to frutition instead of throwing money away on a dream that failed
